BATTLE OF EGEGA. FURTHER DETAILS. DERVISH LOSSES. (by eleectric telegraph—copyright.) Cairo, September 7. Prior to the battle of Egega Major Stuart Wortley, commanding the Jaadins and other loyal tribesmen on the right bank of the Nile, defeated the Dervishes there and killed 350, including the brother of Mahmud, one of the Khalifa's leading generals. London, September 7. It is known that Major MacDonald's expedition has started northwards. The Times says there is every prospect of his meeting the flotilla of gunboats despatched by Sir Herbert Kitchener any day. Thanksgiving service was held in the Gordon Institute at Aldershot for the fall of Khartoum. Cairo, September 8. Five hundred friendly natives on camels are pursuing the Khalifa, whose flight is so rapid that he has been compelled to abandon a number of his harem. One hundred of his camels have been captured. It is officially announced that the Dervishes at the battle of Egega lost 11,500 killed and 16,000 wounded, while 400 were taken prisoners.
