FOOTBALL.
WAIKATO RUGBY UNION. A meeting of the Waikato Rugby Union was held at the Royal Hotelfc Hamilton East, on Thursday evening. The President (Mr Geo. Edgecumbe) occupied the chair. Waikato- Waipa Match.—The Secretary was instructed to communicate with the Waipa Union, explaining the circumstances surrounding the non-fulfil-ment of the late fixture, and asking if the Waipa Union was still willing to play a match. Should the reply be a favourable one, the team to represent Waikato will be picked by Messrs Chas. Speight and Heather. Instruction was given to the Selection Committee that no Huntly men were to be included in the " rep " team. Waikato v. Rotorua.—lt was resolved to send a Waikato team to Rotorua to meet the local club, on September 24th, and Mr H. Tristram was ap pointed manager.
The following team has been chosen by Messrs Heather and Speight to repre sent Waikato against Rotorua on the 24th inst., should the match eventuate ; —Full-back —Stewart; three-quarters— Carnachan, Pike and H. Johnson ; fiveeights —W. H. Hume ; half—McVeagh ; wings—Roberts and Innes ; forwardsSpeight, Medland, Jackson, Mackerith, "Williamson, Montgomery and Jack. The team to represent the Waipa Union iu the natch with the Rotorua Club, to be played to-day passed through by train yesterday. It was composed as follows : —Full-back —J. Corboy ; threequarters— Bowden (2) and M. Gorrie ; five-eights—M. Webster ; half—Carr ; wings—Allcock and Ryburn ; forwards —McDonald, North, Ryburn, Carley, Kay, Gordon and Sing. A real good game should eventuate. On Saturday next the Te Awamutu and Kihikihi teams play for an exceedingly handsome banner, which has been presented for competition by Mr P. O'Connor, of Kihikihi. This evening the Hamilton I. and 11. teams, together with the Presidents and vice-Presidents of the two clubs, will be entertained at the Royal Hotel by Mrs Hamilton. Great preparations have been made by the popular proprietress to entertain the guests, and a large gathering is expected. The match between Waingaro and the Hamilton 11. team, arranged for to-day, having fallen through, the latter team will play all-comers on Sydney Square this afternoon. The following will represent Hamilton 11. :—Full-back—Sut-ton ; three-quarters —Wright, A. Tebbs, Coomber ; five eighths—J. Moore ; half —Edgecumbe ; forwards—Wright, Kinsella, Moore, Harrison, Brown, Rogers, P. Hall, Hughes, Hume. Emergencien : Johnston, Harwood (2), Rogers, Hall, Doctor, B Gothorpc.
