THE PACIFIC CABLE.

Sydney, August 21. The Pacific cable question was discussed at the Conference of Premiers, and it was decided that if the Imperial Government and Canada together contribute, or guarantee, fiveninths of the cost, New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland will each contribute one-ninth. The opinion was expressed that New Zealand would be willing to contribute the remaining ninth.
