RAGLAN.
Cemetery.—At a meeting of the committee it was resolved that the two vecancies on the committee, consequent on the resignation of Messrs Wallis and Galvan, be filled by Messrs J. W. Roffey and G. Moon. Teuders are to be called for the office of Sexton. The account is to be moved to the P.O. Savings Bank. The question of interment fees is to be considered at next meeting. Resident Doctor.—A meeting Mas held on Saturday with the object of adopting means to secure the services of a doctor for the Raglan district. Mr Laugley spoke of the desirability of getting a doctor. He pointed out the great cost they were put to when they required medical attendance. He had consulted with Mr T. B. Hill, M-ho had fallen in with the idea and promised to do all in his power to forward the object. He (Mr Langley) thought that if each single person subscribed 10s per bead they might get a Government subsidy. Mr T. 13. Hill agreed with the proposal. He had written to one gentleman, but he was doing too w°ll where he is to entertain the proposal. Mr J. N. Pegler expressed pe r sonally his thanks to Mr Hill for attendance on members of hi? family. He thought the idea of a cottage hospital CJiild not eventuate ; they could now separate from the Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid district without alteration in the present law. Mr Hill thanked the speaker and those preseut for their expressions of goodwill. A committee, consisting of Messrs Mathias, Smith, Rowland, Sutton, Heckler, Rendell, Mitchell, McJannet Frisell and Langley, was formed, the last-named to convene the first meeting. Improvement Society.—On Wednesdays meeting was held in Rag'an. The adjourned debate on the " No-con-fidence " motion was continued. Several settlers came in for the purpose of taking part in or listening to the discussion. The speakers on the Government side M-ere Messrs T. B. Hill, Bankart and Henry, and Messrs J. N. Pegler, S. Wilson and J. K. McDouald on behalf of the Opposition. All the arguments and statements made on either side are familiar to the readers of newspapers, and now that the " head talkiug shop " in Wellington is in full swing, we cannot spare space to report the debate. The result M'as a victory for the Government party by two votes.—(Own Co--respondent).
