TE AWAMUTU.
Death.—l regret having to chronicle the death of another very old and respected settler, Mr John Bridgman, sen., who died on Friday evening last at his residence on the Te-Awamutu-Kihi-kihi road, at the advanced age of 87 years. The deceased gentleman, who was born in England in May, 1811, sailed for New Zealand in the ship Resolute, under the command of Capt. Lewis, and had, at the time of his death, been resident in the Colony 53 years. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, and was followed by a very large number of sorrowing relatives and friends of the deceased. The remains were interred in St. John's Anglican cemetery, the funeral service being conducted by the Rev. J. L. A. Kay 11. The deceased leaves a grown-up family of sons and daughters, three of the sons are in the drapery business in Auckland, and the fourth, Mr Edward Bridgman, was living with his father on the farm. Property.—The Manse properly, situate near Te Awamutu, has been sold by the trustees of the Presbyterian Church, Mr Richard Bosanko, who has sold his farm, being the purchaser. The vacant allotment opposite Mr Cox's residence has been purchased by Mr Gibson, of this township, Social. —The usual fortnightly band social took place in the Town Hall on Thursday evening last, and was well attended.—(Own Correspondent.)
