AUCKLAND NEWS.

(BY TKLEORAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION). Auckland, Last Night. Joux W. Lee, schoolmaster, was drowned in a flood at Hukerenui on Saturday morning. The body has been recovered. Deceased was a promising young man, the son of Mr Wesley Lee, Mangapai, formerly inspector under the Leeds School Board. A strong committee was appointed at a meeting to-day to agitate for pushing on the North Island Trunk Railway via Stratford. A mass meeting of workers is to be held on Saturday to discuss the extension of the trunk lines to Taranaki under the auspices of the Trades' and Labour Council.
