(r.Y ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT) (Received Augusts, 9.12 a.m.) London, August 4. The bye-election for the vacant seat of Launceston in the House of Commons, caused by the drowning of Mr Thos. Owen, resulted in the election of Mr Fletcher Moulton (Radical), who polled 3951 against Mr Frederick Wells' (Unionist), 2863. Mr George Doughty, who resigned his seat for Great Grimsby, in consequence of his abandonment of Home Rule views, contested the election for the vacancy, and was re-elected, polling 4940 against Mr Wintringham, the Radical candidate, whe received 4169 votes, and an Independent Tory, who polled 204.
