SLY-GROG SELLING.
HEAVY FINES. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION'). Balclutha, Last Night. Alex. Murray was fined £3O, Mrs Henley £SO, Neil juu. £3O and Paterson £SO for breaches of the Licensing Act. The informations against Neil senior and Mr Henley were withdrawn. Mr Hawkins reduced the penalties in all the cases because fictitious defences were not put forward. In two cases the defendants had been previously rlued. John Dunne, junr., was liued £SO and £5 costs. Since Constables Melville and Oruiokshank have been employed, the) sums of £422 has been recovered in lines.
