(BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION). Auckland, Last Night. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce and Auckland members of both Houses it was decided to agaiD urge on the Government the necessity of prosecuting railway construction so as to give direct communication with Wellington, and that it should take precedence of all other railway construction. After considerable discussion it was unanimously agreed to urge the Government to construct the Hue by way of Stratford. It was also decided that immediate steps should be taken to push forward a light narrow guage railway between Rotorua and Gisborne, and that no representations as to a line between Gisborne and Napier be allowed to take precedence.
