(by telegraph.—press association). Wellington, Last Night. > The first meeting of the newly-consti-tuted Victoria College "Council was held to-day. Major Blair was elected Chairman. A committee was appointed to draw up a scheme of work for the Council. It was mentioned that there were some small defects in the Act which would require amending, and Sir Robert Stout said he feared so much money had been devoted to scholarships that there would not be enough for the professors' salaries and working expenses. _______^___^_ —
