IMPERIAL UNITY.

The Duke of Devonshire, speaking at a meeting of the British Empire League, laid great stress on periodical conferences with representative colonial statesmen. He was delighted to hear that the colonial were willing to make considerable concessions in order to advance Imperial unity. Lord Brassey stated that whenever the call was made the colonies, in proportion to their resources, would bo eager to stand shoulder to shoulder •' with the Mother Country, even against the world. Mr W. P. Reeves sa}d the most distant parts of the Empire were watching the events occurring at Hawarden with deep interest and sorrow. He considered it was impossible that any conceivable influence could pull asunder a race possessing such bonds of union.
