FOOTBALL.
The first match of the season was played at Ohaupo on Saturday last, between the Paterangi and Ohaupo teams. Neither team wa« up to its full strength and both were a bit out of condition, consequently the game wus rather slow. In the first spell Pater-ingi, playing down hill, got three tries, nono of which were eonverted, and in the second spell added another try to their score, which stood when the whistle sf.unded at 12 points to Ohnupo's nil. Mr V. Marshall acted as referee, and Messrs Colhoun and Chittenden as umpires. Next Saturday Ohaupo will meet Hamilton at Ohaupo, when a good g;-me may be looked forward to. The following is the team picked to represent Ohaupo : —Parkes (2), Tumwald (2), Johmon, Willoughby, Johnnie, Bobbie, C. Karl, Edwards, Heather, Hardwick, Wilson, Singleton, Tiseimao. Emergencies : Prince, Colhoun, J. Parkes. The second series of district cup matches took place on Saturday in Auckland. Parnell beat Ponsonby by 7 points to 6 ; Grafton beat City by 3 to nil ; Newton beat North Shore by 6 to nil.
