WAIKATO AMATEUR ATHLETIC MEETING.

To-morrow (Wednesday) afternoon the benefit meeting of the Waikato Amateur Athletic Club takes place on Sydney Square, and if we are to judge by the number of entries and the interest already created, this will certainly prove one of the most pleasant gatherings yet held under the auspices of the popular little club. The feature of the afternoon will be, of course, the football tournament, for which four teams are entered—--1 from Karangahake, 1 from Cambridge, and 2 from Hamilton. As the forces of the Hamilton Club are thus divided, we shall evpect to sec Karangahake annex the coveted badge. The following handicaps have been declared for the Committee Race and the Old Buffers' Bicycle Race, two events which have aroused considerable interest : Committee Men's Race. M, H. Quick and G. Dodd,scratch ; 0. Speight, J, A. Young and C. Bowdeu, syds ; J. Lowe, CJyds ; VV. von Stunner and W. Hammond, 7yds ; A. H. Atkinson and W. Dey, Byds ; A. E. Manning, J. MeCrae and VV. Care, 10yds ; G. Parr and J. Hammond, 11yds ; C. Blackburn, 12yds ; C. Le Quesne, 18yds. We shall expect the winner to be supplied from among the limit men. Our selection is :—O. Le Quesne 1, A. E. Manning 2, VV. von Stunner 3. Old Buffers' Bicycle Race.—J. Hammond and G. Parr, scratch ; D. Ross, 35yds ; W. von Sturmer, 50yds ; A. E. Manning and J. McCrae, 60yds ; F. W. Browning, 100yds; P. K. Stevens, 140yds ; J. Caughey, 160yds ; C. Speight, 170yds. For which we select. — A. E. Manning 1, D. Ross 2, G. Parr 3. Our tips for the remaining events are : 75 Yards.-F. Hunt 1, G. Dodd 2, T. Kirk 3. 150 Yards.—G. Dodd 1, B. Power 2, M. H. Quick 3. 440 Yards.—R. Bell 1, A. Whisker 2, W. Evans 3. One Mile Walk.—J. Low 1, Ma whin' ney 2, J. A. Young 3. Half-mile Bicycle.—C. Inues 1, Reed 2, Coomber 3. One and Half Mile Bicycle.--C. Bowden 1, W. King 2, C. Innes 3. Three Mile Bicycle.— "VV. King 1, C. Innes 2, Ooomber 3. The first event will commence at 2 p.m., and each race will be started strictly up to time, and any competitor who is not on his mark punctually will be left. Football Tournament.—The following players will represent the Hamilton Club in the tournament in connection with the above sports :-No. 1 team : Speight, Lowe, Dodd, Whisker, Hunt, T. Kirk, McCassey. No. 2 team : G. Jack, Williamson, VV. Evans, C. Innes, F. Hobbs, M. H. Quick, P. Kirk. The players are requested to be in good time and have blue jerseys.
