NGAROTO DRAINAGE DISTRICT.
A few mouths ago the landowners around Lake Ngaroto decided to form a Drainage District under "The Land Drainage Act, 1893," with a view to improving the outlet to the lake and draining the low-lying lands. The matter Wds placed in the hands of Mr A. Swarbrick, solicitor, of Hamilton, who has prepared the necessary petition and carried through all the preliminary arrangements, and the district was duly constituted by a proclamation of the Governor published in the last Gazette. The new Drainage District comprises an area of about 6500 acres, forming the natural basin or watershed of Lake Ngaroto. Mr Dudley Bockett, of Te Awamutu, haß been appointed Returning Officer, aud Hie first election of the new Board will be held in about a month's time, that is as soon as the rolls can be prepared and revised as required by the Act.
