Reports from Accra, the British seat of Government on the Gold Coast, state that the hut tux is causing friction, and that serious disturbances with the natives are feared. An urgent request for the suspension of the tax has been telegraphed to Mr Chamberlain. Telegraphic communication has been established between Lagos and Jetta, where the headquarters of the British, under Major Lugard, are situated.
