PIRONGIA.
♦ Tangl—A large number of natives from this and up-country districts, left to attend the tangi and funetal of the latelydeparted daughter cf King Tawhiao, Te Ahuia, at her brother's (King Mahuta's) settlement near Huntly. The deceased was well-known and respected here when she resided with her father, King Tawhiao, at Whatiwhatihoe, being of a quiet and aimiable disposition. She was married to Te Tahnna (Charles Searanacke) and leaves a family of six children and her husband to lament her loss. Weather and Crops.—The late rains we have had throughout the district have been most beneficial to the turnip crops, and in some cases the late potatoes have benefited. The nights now are cold and at times light frosts are experienced, so the grass does not make much growth.— (Own Correspondent).
