IRRIGATION CONFERFNCE.

(BY telegraph- press association). Christchurch, Last Night. The Irrigation Coufereuce initiated by the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association have drawn up resolutions recommending that the Government pass such legislation as will allow irrigation districts and water supply boards to be formed, pjwer being given to each district to elect from among themselves a board of trustees to make and control the irrigation works. The money for the work, the Conference considered, should be lent by the Government at the lowest cost to the colony. A system of irrigation the Conference look upon as a matter of urgent necessity to large tracts in Canterbury.
