ACCIDENT AT OKETE.

On Saturday afternoon Mr Harold Churtou, .Vessrß Sharland and Co.'s traveller, met with a painful accident at Okete. He was riding from Raglan to Waingaro, in company with Mr Alf. Gillett, representative of Messrs Wingate and Co., and on nearing Okete the horse he was riding slipped on a steep gieasy portion of the path and falling on his rider's leg, snapped it between the knee and the ankle. Mr Gillett scon procured assistance, and had the unfortunate man conveyed to the residence of Mr Wallis. Dr. Brewis was eent for, and on arrival about 11 p.m., he set the injured limb. Ou Sunday the sufferer was brought over to Frankton by buggy. The journey was a painful one, and the 26 miles occupied about seven hours. Mr Churton was sent en to Auckland by the morning train, and a private telegram we received yesterday afternoon states that he arrived safely, and was making satisfactory progress.
