He complained that the last appointment made had not been satisfactory, and concluded by protesting against the manner of the staff appointments. It was as much as they could do to get through the work satisfactorily, and only then by the head nurse doing double duty, and that, he said, could not go on for ever.—Mr Bailey thought either the doctor should rule or the Board. The Chairman thought the doctor was going outside his duty in thus dictating to the Board. A short time ago they had appointed nurses on a system recommended by the doctor, aud had had no satisfaction ever since. They should go back to the old system and train their own nurses.—Mr Teasdale said in one instance a short time ago Dr. Kenny had dismissed a probationer nurse as unsuitable, and the same young lady was now nursing in the Auckland Hospital and giving great satisfaction. — Mr Steele though the doctor should be compelled to state his reason for dismissal, so that he could not turn a girl away at a moment's notice.—Mr Dey gave notice of motion to move at next meeting that the resolution referring t> the staff consisting of one bead nurse with four trained nurses with probationers, should be rescinded, with a view to bringing in the old system, and having an annual examination for the nurses. —The Board then decided to appoint Mis 3 Germann to fill the vacancy.
