NGARUAWAHIA.
Rowing.—The last series of trial fours of the season in connection with the Ngaruawahia Rowiu<? Club were rowed on Wednesday, 20th inst. The prizes were medals kindly presented by Mr A. G. Bartlett, of Auckland. On the same afternoon the ladies' pair-oared races for trophies presented by the Club came off. Quite a large number of people assembled at the point to witness the races. Afternoon tea was provided and handed rouud by the ladies present, and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. The following were the resuts of the races:—ln the first heat. Marshall (stroke), Terawhiti (3). Kay (2) and Gillander (1), beat Aubrey (stroke), Bel) (3), Laing (2) and Hackett (1). lu the second heat Paynter (stroke), Snelling (3), E. Bailey (2) and Simmclhag (I), beat Rathboruc (stroke), Laing (3), Skelton (2) and A. Paterson (I). In the third heat Marshall (stroke), Terawhiti (3), Kay (2) and Gillander (1), beat Collins (stroke), W. Patereon (3), Skelton (2) and A. Bailey (1). In the final heat Paynter (stroke), Snelling (3), E. Bailey (2) and Simmelhag (1), beat Marshall (stroke), Terawhiti (3), Kay (2) and Gillander (I). The last heat was a splendid race throughout, and resulted in an exceptionally close finish, the winning crew having only some six inches or so to spare. The ladies' races resulted as follows : -Miss N. Aubrey and Miss N. Paterson.beat Miss Eliza Mallindine and Miss G. Butcher; Miss M. Paterson and Miss M. Paki beat Miss Emily Mallindine and Miss Grace Butcher. In the final heat Miss N. Aubrey and Miss N. Paterson beat Miss M. Paterson and Miss M. Paki. The Rowing Club intend holding a social shortly to wiud up tho season.—(Own Correspondent).
