ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
(by telegraph.—own correspondent). Auckland, Last Night. Ax elderly man named Louis Johnson, a Swede by birth, attempted to commit suicide about noon to-day by throwing himself over the Queen-street wharf. A bystander named Cox saw the act and jumped after Johnson, The would-be suioide was eventually cot safely ashore and taken ta the police station and given a change of clothing. Afterwards he was charged with attempting to commit suicide. "When asked his reason for the act the man replied " Life was a misery to him." It appears he was discharged from the Costley Home some days ago and his conduct of late had been very eccentric. He will be brought before the Police Oonrt to-morrow morning.
