WAIKATO AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.

A meeting of the Waikato Amateur Athletic Club was held in Mr Bright's Hotel on Tuesday evening. There was a large attendance of members, and Mr W. S. von Sturmer occupied the chair. Arrangements in connection with the benefit meeting to be held on Wednesday, May 11th, were completed, and the following programme decided upon : Football Tournament (one hour), Old Buffer's Half-mile Bike Race, 75 yards flat, 150 yards flat, One Mile Belay Race, One Mile Walk, 75 yards Committee Race, Half-mile Bike, One and a-half Mile Bike. Three-mile Bike, 150 yards Schoolboy's Race, Long Jump, Quartermile Flat Entries for the events close on Saturday, the 30th April, and the fee has been fixed at Is. The winners will be presented with silver badges. The greatest interest is being taken in the fixture, and perhaps more especially in the football tournament, which is played by seven a-side teams ill spells of ten minutes. This is the first touruan.eut that has been played in the district, and it will doubtless attract a lot of attention from lovers of the grand old game. The programme is a varied and interesting one, and should afford spectators a lot of fun.
