RAGLAN.
Tka and Gift Auction.—On Saturday a tea and gift auction in connection with the Congregational Church was held in the Public Hall, kindly lent by Mr Langley for the occasion. There was a choice collection of fancj' goods, works of art, vegetables, fruit, etc. Tea was served at 5.30 p.m., and it goes without saying there was a plentiful supply cf edibles provided by the Indies. The Misses Bay, Johnston and Hiil and other ladies were most assiduous in attending to the wants of the guests. -A ftor the tables were cleared the gift auction commenced, Mr Langley kindly presided as auctioneer. Besides fancy goods an oil painting of a scene in the Otago Sounds and a water colour of a British glade found purchaser?. A considerable quantity of vegetables and fruit was also disposed of. The last things offered were the retrains of the feast, which all found purchasers by whom they were for the most part distributed among their friends. The proceeds for the day amounted to about £ll. This sum is to be handed to the Rev. C. A. Lyon, late Pastor of the Church. Sunday Services.— On Sunday, Mr Lyon, of Auckland, Chairman of the Congregational Uuion, conducted services both morning and evening.—(Own Correspondent).
