ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(15? TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT). Hawera, Last Night. A man, named Andrew Scott, fell from a heavily-laden waggon, at Normanby, on Saturday. The wheels passed over his chest, crushing it and breaking his arm. He was taken to the hospital, where his arm was amputated. He, however, died on Sunday. Wanganui, Last Night.
The oldest settler here has passed away, in the person of Mrs Henry Nathan, aged 81 years. Deceased arrived at Wellington in January, 1841. She assisted in dressing the wounds of those who escaped the Gilfillan massacre in the early forties. She leaves five sons, five daughters, 30 grind children and 40 great grand children. CiiRiSTCHORcn, Last Night. Yesterday morning the wife of J. Monk, residing near Kaiapoi, was seized by a fit and expired shortiy afterwards. Gi.sbokne, Last Night. A man named Owen Dwyer wa3 found dead in a ditch, with the dray that he had been driving capsized on the top of him.
