TAUPIRI.
New Threshing Machine.—The new Standard pattern threshing maclrne (Messrs Marshall, Son and Co., Grands* borough) cabled Home for by Mr W. Taylor, of Taupiri, in December, duly arrived early chis month. Tlie energetic owner, with his sons, soon had the machine at work, threshing a fine sample of wheat on Mr Powell's farm. It is provided with extra large riddling and dressing surfaces, and a short straw and oavings elevator, and performs the same amount of work with five men that the old pattern did with ten. The machine is now on the way to Whatawhata. It reflects the greatest credit on Messrs Taylor and Sons, who have ever been pioneers in the district with improved agricultural machinery. A traction engine, ordered at the same time, has not yet arrived, owing to the recent strike.
Timber Rafting.—Messrs Davys Bros., the popular Waikato timber merchants, are busy clearing theManagiwhara Creek to raft down logs for their new mill, shortly to be erected at Taupiri. They have an unlimited supply of timber, and the industry will add much to the pto sperity of the place—(Own Correspondent).
