James Cakroel, who arrived from "Wellington on Saturday afternoon, was in attendance at the Minister room in the Government Buildings to-day, when he was interviewed on private mutters The Minister, accompanied by Mr V. Williston, Ids Private Sccrctaiy, this afternoon visited the Blind Institute at Purncll. Mr Carroll is on his way to the native meeting at iluntly, and proposes leaving on Wednesday or Thursday. The natives vt quested specially that he should be preseut, as the meeting is ef some political significance, and they wished to submit through him to the Government tkeir proposals as to their lands and native matters generally. Mr Carroll' will probably return from Huntly at the end of the week.
