TE AWAMUTU.
Entertainment.—Mr P. R. Dix'a Concert and Kineinatograph Company gave an entertainment in the Town Hall, on Tuesday evening last, and attracted one of the largest audiences yet witnessed in the new hall. All the districts were well represented. The myrioramic scenes were very clear, but much disappointment was expressed with the kinematograph exhibition. The musical portion of the programme was much appreciate.!, the vocalists being imperatively encored at each appearance. The takings at the door amounted to something over £2O. A good idea of the attendance might be formed from the fact that during the evening, wheu the people were crowding into the hall, the ennstab'e in temporary charge of the district, spoke of disallowing any further admission, as there were no " fire escapes " to the hall, as to allow the audience to escape quickly in the event of fire. Police Dutibs.—During the absence of Constables Jones, of Te Awamutu, and Carroll, of Kihikihi, who ace attending the Supreme Court sitting iu Auckland, the district is in temporary charge of Constable McDonald, of Auckland. Between twenty to thirty people from this quarter are attending the Supreme Court as witnesses in different cases. Town Board.—A meeting of the Town Board was held on Thursday evening last.
