The French expedition to Fashoda, in the Upper Nile region, under the command of the Marquis Bouchamps. which was to meet the French expedition under Captain Marchand, crossing from west to east, failed in its mission in consequence of the Abyssinian auxiliaries having deserted. London, March 9. News has been received that the British forces iu West Africa suffered losses through falling into ambuscades in the Hinterland of Sierra Leone. Reinforcements have been sent.
