SERIOUS COACH ACCIDENT.

An accident occurred on Tuesday last to a coach between Akaroa and Litilc River. It was drawn by five horses, and when going down the hill from the summit to Little River the horses bolted, the coach struck a telegraph po3t, and the body of the coach charged through a post-and rail fence, and was thrown twenty feet down the side of a hill. There were ten passengers on board. One man, named Turner, was badly injured, but the other 3 had a marvellous escape, and beyond a severe shakiug and bruises were not seriously huro One passenger, Mr A. E. G. Rhodes, who, with his wife, was on the box seat, was thrown clear 60 feet down the hill. Mr Tnroer, who was badly injured has been taken into the Christchurch hospital. Turner in the Little River coach accident are more serious than were at first supposed, aud he is in a precarious condition. Mr Turner has long been one of the foremost men in the banking world, and is at present the chief manager of the Commercial Bank in Australia.
