CABINET MEETING.

(BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRFSPONDENT), Wellington, Last Night. The Cabinet has finally approved of the proposal to pay 176.000 to the local bodies in the Hawke's Bay district out of the £200,000 voted by Parliament last session for repairing the flood damages. An application for a publican's license in the King Count!y at Opitonui has been refused by the Government after consideration in Cabinet, on the grounds that the information is incomplete, and the question arose as to whether the law won d permit of such a license being issued. The same course was adopted in regard to an application for a lbense at Manguweka. Ministers appropriated £IOOO for further woiks on the North Is'aod Maiu Trunk Railway, and £3OOO for the extension of the Otago Central Railway. The Uovernment resolved to renew the bonus for the production of quicksilver north of Auckland.
