SUICIDE IN AUCKLAND.
\Vk reported the particulars of the suicide of Mrs Smyth in last is3ue. An in quest has been lvpld, and the tacts elicited were substantially the same as given. M. Purchas expressed doubtas to whether the wounds were self-inflicted. He doubted whether a woman would have the physical strength to inflict them. The razor must bave been drawn nine times across the throat, and there were two distinct incisions to the spinal bone. Another reason for doubt to his mind was that the wounds on the wrist would correspond with the other wounds as if the hand had brcn held up in front of the throat in defence. It was quite possible, but he could not be certain that the wounds were self-inflicted. The jury returned a verdict "That the deceased committed suicide while labouring under temporary insanity,"
