THE WELLINGTON SEAT.
(BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESrO dent). Wellington, Last Nipht. There is serious trouble among the Labour Unions over the distribution of the ballot papers for the vot'ng for the selection of a candidate to-morrow. One prominent Union claims 244 papers on a numerical basis, but the Trades Council offers only 30, on the ground that the majority of the members are unfinancial. Another alfiiated body claims a mem bership of nearly 1500, but will only be allowed 100 papers. The Council accuses some of the Unions of stuffing the rolls of membership in order to give undue advantage to one candidate. Some discontented unionists stverely denounce the Council as the "Star Chamber.''
Mr McLaren is strongly backed by Mr J. Hutchison, M.H.R., and the Seamen's Union.
