MESSRS HUNTER AND NOLAN'S SHEEP FAIR.
Messrs Hunter and Nolan held their annual sheep fair at Green Lane on Thursday afternoon, Mr J. P. A Philson acting as auctioneer in his well-known businesslike and courteous manner. The arrangements were gool, and everything went off with the utmost smoothness. Theie was a very large attendance of buyers, and the bidding was brisk throughout, the prices realised being satisfactory, especially for Lincolns. No lcs3 than 11,000 sheep were yarded, and there were some 30GO others which the firm wire unable to pen. These were so'd at Green Lane }esterday, the sale commencing at 11 a.m. The top price for ewes was obtained by 36 Lincolns fiom the farm of Mr Routley, of Pukekohe, which realised 14s each. Lincoln ewes ranged from 5i 9d to 14s ; crcssbred ewes, from 4s 6d to Ss; wethers, from 6s 3d to 8s ; and lambs, 3a 3d to 7s 6d. The highest pries for rams, £ll 11», was obtained by Messrs C. J. Crago, of East Taniaki, and W. McElwaiue, of Waiuku Lincoln rams ranged from £1 Is to £ll lis; Leicesters, from £1 Is to £2 5s ; Shropshircs, up to £4 10s ; and Romneys up to £2 15s.—Herald.
