TE AWAMUTU TOWN BOARD.

A meeting of the above Board was held in the Board's office (Town Hall) on Thursday evening last. The Commissioners present were : Messrs G. Ahier, J. L. Mandeno, J. B. Teasdale, W. North and F. Gibson. Station Road.—Mr Teasdale was authorised to employ a man to cut the grass growing on the sides of the footpath leading to the railway station. Imioundino.—A letter was received from Mr J. Harper, claimiog driving fees and also stating that he had applied to the poundkeeper, who refused to give him the amount claimed.-The Clerk was instructed to inform Mr Harper that it was a matter entirely between himself and the poundkeeper, who was the present lessee of the public pound. Runt —The Clerk was instructed to attend to the rents due to the Board. Temporary Fencb.—Mr Gibson obtained leave to erect a temporary fence on the Town Board Dom&iu road. Furze.--The Chairman and Mr Ahier were deputed to wait on Captain Jackeon, S.M., next court day, with a view of getting the furze in the court house paddock cleared, and also to have the entrance to the court house gravelled.— The Clerk was instructed to send out notices to clear furze, etc. * Half-Holiday.—Resolved that Thursday be the day fixed for the public halfholiday for year 1898, as required by the Shop and Shop Assistance Act, and that the necessary notification be sent to the Minister of Labour. Town Hall.—A letter was handed in by the Chairman of the Hall Committee, which he had received from the Secretary of the Te Awamutu Musical Society, enclosing a cheque for £5 17« 6d, net proceeds of concert in aid of the Town Band fund.—A vote of thanks was passed to the Musical Society for their kind donation. Accounts. A few small accounts were passed for payment. —(Own Correspondent).
