THE UPPER NILE.

London, January 29. Mr Cavendisu, the English explorer, who last year carried out an adventurous caravan expedition in Central and Eastern Africa, has been chosen leader of an expedition comprising 10 Europeans, with an escort of 400 armed marines, to the Upper Nile region. The object of the expedition is to proceed to the junction of the Sobat River, draining the Eastern Soudan and the White Nile, and the intention is believed to be to forestall tho French expedition under Captain Marchand.
