WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Waikato County Council met at the Council Chambers, Hamilton East, yesterday. There were present:—Crs. A. Primrose (Chairman), S. T. Peddou, A. Furze, Jno. Gordon, W, H. Thomas, A. Mcßae and J. P. Bailey. Model Farm.—The Council expressed great dissatisfaction at the manner in which the Model Farm tenant was carrying out the conditions of the lease. It was reported that the lessee had refused to do anything until the fence on the northern boundary had been renewed.— The Clerk said notice had been served upon Mr Coatts, the adjoining owner, regarding the erection of the fence. —It was decided to call for tenders for the work at once. Inspection of Slaughterhouses.—Constable White, of Huntly, wrote giving a thorough explanation of the charges of neglect of duty made against him in his position as Inspector of Slaughterhouses by Mr Moren, of Huntly, and also waited on the Council re the matter. —The Chairman informed Constable White that the Council was quite convinced that he had discharged his duties satisfactorily and in accordance with the Act. Te Onetia Bridge.—At last meeting of the Council it was reported tint the bridge over the Te Onetia stream prevented steamers getting on to the Waikare Lake.— The Council communicated with Mr Fairburn, engineer, and that gentleman forwarded plans and specifications for a draw-bridge, which would leave ample room for the steamers and their barges to pass through, the total cost being about £Bo.—Crs. Bailey and Mcßce considered the work was a very necessary one for the convenience of the settlers.—The Council expressed its willingness to carry out the wo-k if the ratepayers were anxious to have it done, and the matter was allowed to stand over until the riding members had consulted them upon the subject. Riding Balances.—The Clerk gave the following statement of the ridinsr accounts :—Whangamarino, dr., £2O 10) B;}d ; Kirikiriroa, dr., £133 7s 7jrt ; Model Farm, dr., £203 13s 61 ; Huntly, cr., £9O 0s 10id ; Tamahere, cr., £34 19j Gd ; Cambridge, cr., £ll3 18s 2£d. Accounts.— The following payments were authorised :—T. White, £1 2s 8d ; H. Fitzgerald. £4 18s lOd ; Kirikiriroa Road Board, £2 ; interest on debt, £43 Is 9d ; W. T, Lutencr, 6s 4s ; Clerk's salary, £lO ; numbers travelling expenses, £4 7s ; Frank O'Toole, £lO 10s Id ; E. Fairburn, £3 3s ; J. C. Lindsay, £1 3s 7d.
