MAGISTRATE'S COURT, HAMIL TON.
Yesterday—(Before Captiin Jackson, S.M.). Breach ok Railway Bye-laws.-—Thos Quinn, alias John Johnson, and Hugh Henderson, alias Angus McPhersoti, were charged with having committed a breach of Bye-law No. 20 on a railway carriage on part of the railway line between Ngaruawahia and Hamilton ou January 4th last.—Constable Forbes prosecuted, ami Mr R. W. Dyer appeared for the defendants.—Both the accused pleaded guilty.—Joseph Mack, guard, and Win. Wildernioth, "enginedriver, gave evidence as to the committal of the oirence, and a fine of £3, with costs 17s Gd, was imposed. Jumping ox a Moving Train. Quinn was also charged with jumping on a train while it wa.s in m tion or. the day of January sth list.—Accused again pleaded guilty, and was fined £1 and costs £1 Is 3d. Stealing a Mug.—Hugh Hendcrsou was further charged with a'cding a mug, valued at 9d, the property of Robinson Spencer, of the Frankton Hote'.— Accused admitted taking the mug, but with no intention to steal, and after hearing the evidence His Worship dismissed the case. Insulting Language.— A. J. Strong was clnrgcd wiHi having made use of insulting language to Joseph Mack oq January sth last. The words complaice 1 cf were (as His Worship politely put it), " I'll smash you over the crimson kisser."—Accused pleaded guilty, and \va3 fined £1 and £1 Is 3 I costs. A fortnight was allowed in each case in which to pay the fines.
