The third test match Was concluded at Melbourne on Wednesday, and: resulted in the defeat of the Englishmen by an innings and thirteen runs. : 4t< one time it looked anything but a certainty' for the colonials, as the Englishmen had only one wicket, down,, and were less than 150 runs behind, with the two "cracks" Maclaren and; Ranjitsinhji well set and scoring freely. However, when this partnership was dissolved, three more wickets went down for an additional ten runs, and 134 i una were still wanted to avert a one-inninga' deteat, a task which the visitors could nob accomplish.
