ENGINEERS' STRIKE.
THE BEGINNING OF THE END. London, The Engineers' Executive are willing to conceclo the question of management if the unions are granted a voice in disputes over wages for piecework and overtime when working under extra strain. Tho Fairfield shipbuilding yards are re-engaging many old hands as non-unionists. In connection with the withdrawal of the demand of the London Engineers for eight hours, tho federated employers require the unanimous and simultaneous settlement of tho difficulty with all branches of the Engineers Society. It is reported that they insist upon the terms submitted at the last conference. Defections from the Engineers' Society are reported. Numbers are leaving the union and accepting employment on the masters' terms. Allied trades aro subscribing reluctantly and illiberally to the strike fund.
