AUCKLAND WOOL SALES.

(BY TELEGRAPH—OWN COBTtESPONPENT). Auckland, Last Night. To day the second series of wool sales of the season took place at the Wool Exchange, Queen street, with good attendance of buj ers. In all 4763 bales of wool were catalogued, and most of these were disposed of. The wool was distributed as follows amongst the several firms selling : Hunter and Nolan, 931 bales; G. W. Binney and Sons, 532; New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, 1583 ; Alfred Buckland and Sons, 1431 ; total, 4763. The following were the principal buyers present, viz : Messrs Murgatroyd, Price, Warnock, Ireland, Donald, Slator, Wood, Sutherland and Parker. Messrs Hunter and Nolan held their sale first, and sold 846 bales out of 931. The prices obtained for the coarser v, ools were lower by about }d per lb than last year's sale?. Fiuer woils realised about the same as last sales. Lambs wool dropped heavily, there beiug a fall of from Id to 1-jd per lb compared trhh last year's values. The following were the ruling prices obtained : Crossbreds, 5Jd to 7£d; longwools, 4£d to 6jd ; merinos, 4£d to s£d ; lambswool, 4£d to sjd. Messrs Binney and Son sold 630 bales out of 832 catalogued. Good wools brought about the same price as last year, but inferior wools were £d easier. The highest prices realised were 7d to 7|d crossbred?. The bulk of the crossbreds and loogwools fetched from about 6jd to 6fd per lb. There was a considerable full in lambswool, the best price being 6Jd, inferior lots 5d to 6sd ; merinos, inferior, realised 54d; locks, pieces and bellies caused brisk competition, and sold freely at ljd for daggy lots, and to s}d for gocd pieces. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company offered close on 1600 bales of wool, selling at auction and privately about 1500. Prices for coarse and shabby wools show a decline of a |d, and lambs wool Jd to Jd on last year's rates. Other descriptions were about the level of the December sales.
