Tnn Waikato Akgus Office, Wednesday. MR W. J. HUNTER'S OHAUPO SALE. At Mr W. J. Hunter's sale on Ta< sday, there was but a small muster of cattle—about 220 head—mostly yearlings and calves, and many of them of an inferior quality and rather young. Only a few dairy cows were offered, but very few sold, as most of them were backward. The tone of the market was dull, con Bcquently many of the lots wcrs passed. Farmers at this time of the year are busy harvesting, and cannot attend sales. Young pigs sold well, lis 6d for eight weeks old suckers. Mr H. Rogers sold sonic pedigree Berkshires, eight weeks old, at 21s each. No grown steers offeree 1 . Ucef was low, but there was a fair demand. Prices as follows :—Sprnging heifers, £3 3=<; young bulls from £1 15s to £3 10s ;• calves, mixed sexes, from lS.t to 21s, for good quality ; two-year-old steers, £2 4s; empty cows in good condition, £2 <S<j; empty cows in low condition from £1 15s to £1 18s ; good yearling heifers, 24s ; yearling steers from £1 9s to £1 12s ; fat heifers, £3 12a ; small fat steers from £4 4s to £4 15s : tat steers, medium weight, £5 ss. Sheep : About 250 were yarded, but none sold under the hammer; tb was offered for good ewes in wool, with big kmbs at side, but were withdrawn, 10j being wanted.—(Ohaupo Correspondent). AUCKLAND MARKETS. (by telegraph—own correspondent). Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Report.—Horses : Large numbers were entered for sale and were nearly all disposed of about late values. Heavy draughts sold from £9 2a (3d to £l9 10a ; medium ditto, £8 to £l7 s*'; light harness, £3 2s (id to £lO 5s ; hacks, £3 to £9 10s ; weedy horses, £1 to £1 10s. At the Junction Yards there was an average supply of cattle and sheep, and there was an improvement in values all round. Ox beef averaged 17s per lfX)'.b. and cow beef 153. Dairy cattle remain at late values. An advance of Is to Is 6d per head in sheep was made. Wethers brought 8s to lis (id ; ewes, 5s to 8s Gd ; mixed sexes, 83 6d to 9s 0('. Lambs were plentiful and sold from 33 9d to 9s. Pigs : Medium weight brought 14s to 325. Hides and skins sold at moderate prices. Stent ox, 3£d to 4|d ; cows and steers, 2|d to 3-d ; calf skins, 4|d to 4jd ; tallow, 10s 3d to lis cwt. ; bones, £3 5s per ton. Sheep skins sold from la 7d to 4s 6d ; pelts, Is to Is 2d ; lamb skins, Gd to Is 6d ; pieces sold from 5Jd to 6d ; locks and pieces, 2d to 4jd.
