ENGINEERS' STRIKE.

London, January 3. The Bricklayers' Union has lent the Engineers' Society £IOOO without interost to assist in carrying on the strike. Mr Pvrnes, secretary of the Engineers' Society, states that the men will not desist from the struggle till eight hours is granted. Both London and tho provinces, Mr Barnes says, are acting- in opposition to the tono of unreasoning dominance which characterised the employers' representatives at the recent Conference. lie promises to continue the strike without touching the reserve fund of the Engineers' Society. The unionists employed by the Fairfield Shipping Company, of Glasgow, have now withdrawn in consequence of a number of the firm's engineers being locked out.
