WAINGARO.
Gala Times.—On Friday evening a large company assembled ab Dunmore, the residence of Mr G. A. McMillan, by kind invitation from Mrs C. C. McMil'an, to see the old year out and the. now year in, and the light fantastic toe was gaily tripped f. r some hours, and all went home highly pleased with the night's entertainment. This is the second reunion of the kind held at Dunmore, and it is needless to say that Mrs McMillan is an excellent hostess, and as it is intended to be an annual affair, it will be looked forward to with pleasant anticipation. At present about thirty visitors arc enjoying the holiday season at Dunmore. Polo C&pb. The first match of the season was held on New Year's Day, in Mr Vvrnon's paddock, and a number of enjoyable practice matches were indulged in, notwithstanding the hrat of the day, ponies as well as players entered into the gamo with spirit. The fences were lined by horses which had been ridden to the rendezvous by onlookers, and the ladies of the club had a busy time when afternoon tea came to be dispensed, to which justice was done. The shades of evening were falling ere the horses were harnessed to the vehicles and equestrians mounted on horseback for the return home. All dec'ared they had had a delightful afternoon's enjoyment.— (Own Correspondent).
