THE HAMILTON REGATTA

A mkkting of the General Committee of the Hamilton Regatta was held iu the Commercial Hotel on Thursday evening, when there was a good attendance, Mr G Edgecumbe in the chair. The Secretary reported the work that had been done by the executive committee, and their action was approved. A letter was received from Mr W. Dey stating that Messrs T. and S. Motrin and Co. (Limited), had forwarded through him a handsome cup, valued at £3 3s, for competition at the regatta.—The Secretary was instructed to write and thank Messrs Morrin and Co. for their donation.—lt was decided to allot the Cup to an additional race between crews from the Paerca and Ngaruawahia Clubs, no entry fee being charged. The Secretary reported that the Hamilton Brass Band of 12 performers had been engaged for the clay at £6. The following sub • committee were appointed, viz :—Gate Cotnmitte: Messrs J. Knox, A, H. Atkinson and J. E. Hammond. Boat Committee : Messrs W. Gribble, W. C. Castleton and H. Mann. Ground Committos: Messrs G. Edgecumbe, A. E. Maimng, A. Coyle, J. H. Edwards, W. N. von Stunner and T. Kiik, junr. It was decided to send a man to Huntly to meet the excursion train and sell tickets, so as to avoid a 3 far as possible the crush at the gates. The question of the admission of horses to the ground was brought up, and it was decided that there be no charge for hois s for which there is ample accommodation.

All the members of tho committee signed the guarantee fund, and it is expected that before the regatta a guarantee of a sum equal to tlic total expenses will be given, it not being the intcntiou to make a canvass for subscrip-tic-ns.

The Secretary reported that permission had been obtained from the New Zealand Rowing Association to hold the races under their rules.
