♦ . The Waikato Argus Office, Wednesday. MR W. J. HUNTER'S OHAUPO STOCK SALE. At Mr W. J. Hunter's sale on Tuesday, there was a good muster of cattle ; about 540 were yarded, most of them of a good quality and in good condition. Calves and yearlings were well represented, for which there was a fair demand at au advance on previous sales. Mr A. Ramsey had a couple of peus of well-bred young heifers, got by the purebred bull, Goldfinder, which look first and champion prize at Hamilton. The heifers were aged fifteen and eighteen months, aud brought £2 5s and £2 17s, which cannot be called a big price if breeding id worth anything. Grown steers were fairly numerous, but prices for that class of stock were low, and consequently several pens were passed. Nos many dairy cows offered. Beef was plentiful, but demand was slow. Prices :—Dairy cows from £3 Is to £4 10s ; well-bred young heifers from £2 5a to £2 17s; yearlings, mixed sexes, from 20s to 27s 6d ; yearling steers from 27s to 30s; calves, mixed, from 20s to 25* ; two and a-half-year-old steers from £2 Ss to £3 ; grown steers from £4 Is to £4 15s, slow demand ; empty cows from £1 10s to £2 lis ; beef, fat heifers, £2 15s; good fat steers, £5 6s ; small fat heifers, £2 5s ; no margin between stores and fat Sheep : About 250 yarded. Hoggets iu good condition in their wool, 83. — (Ohaupo Correspondent). AUCKLAND MARKETS. (BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN correspondent). Auckland, Last Night.—Messrs Hunter and Nolan's report :—Horses : Large numbers were entered and good values were maintained. Heavy draughts brought from £l2 10s to £lB 15s ; medium ditto, £lO to £l6 15s; light harness, £7 10s to £l3 15s : hacks. £2 10s to £l3. Cattle : Barely average numbers were entered. Ox beef sold from 16s to 18s per 1001 b, and cow from 15s to 16s. Dairy cows ranged from £3 to £4 15s. Two first-class cows brought £6 each. Sheep were penued in large numbers. Wethers in wool sold from 12s 6d to 15s; shorn wethers, 6s 6d to 9s 9d ; ewes, 8s 3d to 13s ; shorn ewes, 6s to 8s 6d ; lambs, 5s 3d to lis 3d. Wool in bags sold trom 5d to 6f d lb; locks and pieces, 2d to 4id. Hides: Extra stout ox, 4id to sjd ; ordinary, 3d to 4Jd; cow and steer, 3-Jd ; calfskins, 3d to 4M ; sheep skins from 4s 6d to 5s lid ; lambs, 8d to Is 5d ; pelts, 9d to Is 2d.
