ALLEGED CATTLE SHOOTING.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —A ehort time ago I wrote drawing your attention to thra very inaccurate report of this case, which had appeared in your journal. I had cxpec'erl that after my letter some explanat on would have been vouchsafed, or the amende honorable tendered. In this I am apparently disappo ; utcd, as both you and your correspondent, appear to thin'< that on this occasion "Siknc- is Golden." I can only expiess my snrpsiso and regret that you have not cither attempted to justify your report or admitted its inaccuracy, and I would further express my unqualified contempt at the conduct of your correspondent, who remiius silent and does nut disclose his i l> nti'y when the accuracy of his report has been challenged.—l am, etc., R. W. Oyer. Hamilton, December 15. 1097. [We communicated with our correspondent after the publication of Mr Dyer's first letter, and he informed us that the report was correct in every respect. —ltp. W.A.]
