Weather and Roads.—We have had splendid weather during the past few weeks and the roads are now iu splendid order and things are going ahead generally. Co-operative Works.—These are in full swing again and are progressing very favourably under the supervision of Mr Koch, Engineer, and Inspector Morse. The men all appear to be satisfied.
Kiflk Club.— A rifle club has been started in our township, and a shooting match was held between two of our local identities for £5 uside. This afforded considerable amusement to the onlookers. One feature was observable, an! that was that the markers kept at a considerable distance < from the target, in dread of stray bul lets. After the match was over all adjourned to Mr and Mrs Harrison'a and partook of a splendid tea, kindly provided by them. After tea the time was passed in singing and recitations.
Stoke.—We have a large store here now under the management of Messrs Lewis Brothers, who seem to be doing a good business ; another is in course of erection for Mr T. Hunt at the rising township ot Hincmoa. Prices are high here and a little opposition mny prove a blessing. Mail Service.—What wc want badly is an improved mail service. As a rule wc have only one mail weekly, so that we are a long way behind the times.—(A Correspondent).
