EXPORT OF HARES AND ORANGES.
Mr Smith is also taking this in hand, and was rather disgusted that, a'though last year the Government had proved its possibilities and made a handsome, profit out of their shipments, no one responded to his invitation to send shipments on their own account this season, and so the Department has been forced to take it in hand again. A few thousand cases of the ordinary .Sydney oranges will bo sent Home and also large shipments of frozen hares. The Department sometimes receives over 2000 hares a day. These are graded, and those unsuitable for export ara sold in the local market.
