RAGLAN,
Tender.—Mr Sweetman, of Waitetuna, was the successful tenderer for the erection of a house for Mr Conradi in Creekstreet.
Mutual Improvement.—At the last meeting of this society a committee was appointed to confer with the librarian of the public library with the object of extending tho usefulness of that institution. Mr Hill read a paper, " A True Ghost Story," which was very favourably criticised by several speakers. District School.—The committee of the Raglan District School have received from Mr Dickinson, inspector, who examined the school on November 22ni, a very favourable report. All the children in the school presented for examination except three passed their various standards. In Standards I. and 11. all passed ; in Standard 111. one failed, and in Standard V. two failed. As usual in the case of most schools those failing had attended school very seldom during the year. Order, attention and behaviour was reported as good, and the needlework of the girls was commended. Once more the committee have reason to appreciate the efforts of their excellent teacher, Mr La Trobe. — (Own Corres pondent).
