WHATAWHATA.

A concert and dance in aid of the p : ouic fund eventuated in Iwersen's Hall on Wednesday eveping last, the affair being a great success. Oyer 100 persons were present, and the manner in which the various items were rendered left nothing to he desired, the school children in particular showing careful trainee on the part of their respected teacher, Mr Pilkington, to whose organising powers the success of the entertainment was very largely due. The prolamine was as follows :—Children's greeting, school children ; dumb bell exercise, Maori scholars ; piano solo, Mrs Story ; song, " The Ivy Green," Mr T. Blackett; trio, "0 Touch Those Chords Again," Misses Fitzgerald, Park and McKnkht; song. " The Seng That Reached My Heart," Miss Swanson (sung splendidly); piano solo, Miss Bucc; dialogue, Misses Bruce and Kempthorne; children's greeting; song, " Cricket on the Hearth," Mr Geach (encored), gem of the evening ; dialogue, Masters Higgiuson and Anderson ; song, Miss Park ; quartette. " Gathering Shells from the Shore," Maori hoys ; dumbell exercise, Miss Park; piano duet, Misses Laxon and McKnight; song, " Holy City," Mr Pilkington ; tableau, school children. At the conclusion of the concert dancing was indulged in, being kept up until !2 o'clock.
